Belmont Park free selection for Thursday:
|No.||BEL Race 4 Md $40,000 (2:23 ET)||ML||FAIR|
|1|| Shes Roman || 4-1 || 5-2 |
| 3 || Zo Zo || 9-2 || 7-2 |
| 5 || Miss Potenza || 5-1 || 9-2 |
| 2 || Zenstone || 10-1 ||8-1|
| Analysis: Shes Roman was sent off as the favorite in her debut and she made a mild late rally to finish fourth. The third place finisher Shangala returned to graduate in her next start against maiden special weight foes at Finger Lakes on Sept. 9. She is sent out by former Pletcher assistant Michael Dilger who is 25% winners (with a +ROI) with second out maidens. Johnny V. sticks and she looks like the one to beat here as she drops a notch in for $40,000. |
Zo Zo drops in for a tag for the first time and returns to dirt after checking in a well beaten 10th last out on turf going a mile. She was the beaten fav in her first two starts and it is not often we see a Tony D. trainee get beaten by 14+ lengths in three starts. Pedigree wise she seems better suited for dirt and she catches a softer group here.
